About Joe

Joe Monteleone is a Principal at Catamount Services LLC.  In his career in the private practice of law, he represented a number of D&O liability insurers in complex securities fraud litigation and has worked effectively with plaintiff and defense interests in resolving many of these complex disputes. He now provides legal and consulting services to policyholders, insurance brokers and D&O, errors and omissions, and professional liability lines insurers, including drafting insurance forms and endorsements and serving as a mediator, arbitrator, and expert witness. A frequent speaker and author, he has authored or co-authored 4 books, over 150 articles, and has made more than 250 presentations over the past 40 years, including the following articles published in IRMI's The Risk Report:

Joe is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York.  As an arbitrator, he is certified by ARIAS-US, and as an expert witness. As a mediator, he is certified by CPR.

Joe was a member of the American Bar Association for 40 years.  Since 2019, he has been a Fellow in the American Corporate Counsel Association and was co-chair of their D&O and Management Liability Committee in 2023-24.  He is also a long-standing member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and has served as a Trustee of that organization.  He is currently a Senior Advisor on the Board of Advisors to H.S. Grace & Co., an organization that provides consulting and expert witness services to corporations and their boards.

He most recently co-authored the book "Corporate Governance: Understanding the Board-Management Relationship", which is available for purchase from the American Bar Association. 

Joe received his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, a M.A. from Hunter College (CUNY), and his B.A. from St. John's University.
